Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Presentation of the Foundation
Antonio Emanuele Augurusa

For us, pursuing innovation and development means
directing action to the promotion of every man and the whole man

Anthony Emanuel Augurusa involved with overwhelming love all those who were fortunate enough to have him at their side. He left a mark of fraternal tenderness in every rivulet of his own existence until the last beat of his young heart.
An unforgettable heart, capable of making generative and imperishable not only his memory, but his profound will to love man and nature unconditionally.
To Antonio we tie the name and identity of the Foundation, composite and essential in the tension that moves it to the pursuit of the momentum of that heart. A horizon of meaning that we root in the ardent desire to give continuity to the virtues of his person and the values he cultivated and taught to others.

For that reason, “Charitas Omnia Vincit” is the emblematic expression to which we hinge and entrust the message of our Foundation. Steadfast in our ambitions of love, we intend to take up the call faithful to that vision inspired and declined by Pope St. Paul VI in his Populorum Progressio, devoted to “the promotion of every man and of the whole man in the realization of the integral development of peoples.”
Our deep commitment is thus directed to the many and varied forms of poverty that afflict mankind, like the needs before which Anthony never managed to remain indifferent.

His dedication to the other is therefore today the principle and driving force of our dedication: we believe in the intrinsic dignity of every person and strive to be co-participants and co-participants in change in the construction of a new possible world.
To lucidly grasp the wide-ranging Poverties, which undermine the value of the human person and which trample, forget or ignore the needs inherent in universal rights, means to reimagine with courage and confidence what Pope Francis reminded us is the one “great common house” in human custody. Therefore, with the understanding that it is not possible to act concretely for poverty eradication without first ensuring peace, justice and development, we define strategic goals in line with new needs and challenges.

We play an advocacy role that contributes to concrete support for pathways to empowerment and mobilization for the rights of the most vulnerable and affected by multiple forms of poverty. Poverty of access to care and basic health rights, for which there are still too many “Souths” pregnant with inadequacies. Energy and digital poverties, which deaden the very development and eco-sustainability aspirations of entire communities. Cultural and educational poverties that underlie the impossibility of access to aspects fundamental to the integral development of the person. Deep gaps of a humanity that is too often wounded, in front of which we cannot remain indifferent and to which we therefore want to stand side by side, so that no man who aspires to fraternal reciprocity can any longer conceive them as normal.

Faithful to the vision of a love that can heal, regenerate and conquer all, we imprint the Foundation’s directions with the pursuit of models of equity that can rise above and beyond systemic barriers through building bridges, synergies and connections directed at expanding human potential in all its forms.
In particular, equity between individuals, so that every human can feel the charitable fire of belonging to the same human family on his or her skin, making us guarantors of equal opportunities and support for vulnerabilities. Equity between communities, because never before has the evidence become apparent that no nation or geographic area can claim to be mutually alien or disinterested in cooperating in the name of universal development. Equity between generations, so that today’s humanity does not incur the risk of overburdening the planet or realizing short-term benefits that entail long-term costs for the next generations.
The Foundation then constitutes the conduit through which resources, skills, values and intentions converge in dynamic designs. We wish to be unique but not disjointed pieces of witness present in the building of processes of generative impact: roots of our common evolution and custodians of a legacy of love.
In this way committed to affirming and making recognizable the imprint of Anthony, matured in the conception of Christian Charitas, we place the vocation of our Foundation in the groove of the historical role and spirituality of the Basilica of St. Vitale, Valeria, Gervasius and Protasius martyrs in Fovea in Rome. A symbolic and evocative place, it has always been inclined to place itself at the service of the intrinsic poverty of every historical epoch crossed, be these material or relational miseries, lacks of protection or solidarity, different one season after another.
A paradigm of rootedness in faith and a symbol of charitable support, it emblematically recalls the willingness to succor our brother, restore and re-empower him, which we intend to embody.

Our Foundation was born on the occasion of the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart, so we are pleased to invite you to the Eucharistic Celebration scheduled for Friday, June 11, at 6:15 p.m.
Honoring this anniversary, which will be followed by the presentation of the Foundation itself and its operational perspectives, we want to entrust ourselves to that inexhaustible love for humanity witnessed by the heart of a God who shared the integral corporeality of the man he loved to the extreme sacrifice, inspiring hearts of timeless love, like that of Anthony Emanuel Augurusa.
