On Tuesday April 29, at the headquarters of the Municipality of Filogaso, in the Vibo Valentia area, the presentation event for the book “Estremi: il mondo in bilico tra caos e polarizzazione” by Gianluca Ansalone took place. Ansalone is a manager of multinational companies and a professor of Geopolitics and Strategy at the Campus Bio-Medico and the Carabinieri Officers School.

The event, organized as part of the free High-Level Training Course “Green Social Impact Manager” of the Antonio Emanuele Augurusa Foundation under the High Patronage of the European Parliament, represented a significant moment for discussion and reflection on the most complex challenges of contemporary geopolitics, from the climate crisis and global conflicts to the economic, social, and technological transformations of our times. Present in the hall were the young students of the High-Level Training Course, representatives of local institutions, and Carabinieri from the Maierato Station representing the local law enforcement forces.

The meeting was moderated by the Calabrian journalist and sociologist Maurizio Bonanno, who led the debate with the author, welcoming numerous questions from the students. Starting from the reflections in the book, the meeting outlined an international scenario marked by deep fractures and growing ideological polarizations, where moderate dialogue aimed at achieving the common good is lost: “We are witnessing a true change of era,” the author declared to the La CNews24 journalists present in the hall, ” we know that the world order is destined to break apart and recompose itself in the near future. We must claim a leading role to reaffirm power politics, industrial policies, and strategic vision capabilities that can mend global balances .” When asked about the role of the third sector and the skills necessary to propose alternative social models, Ansalone responded by pointing toward a radical but pragmatic approach, capable of identifying concrete and shared solutions: “What I try to propose is an approach I call radical. To me, the opposite of an extreme approach is not a moderate approach, but a radical and pragmatic one, capable of identifying concrete solutions […]. We must begin to adapt our productive, civil, social, economic, and cultural systems to a world that is changing irreversibly.”

To the young students who are training in Filogaso in these weeks to become leaders of social change, Ansalone then addressed a heartfelt appeal for commitment, urging them to cultivate the ability to be outraged as a fundamental first step toward civic mobilization, and to shun indifference and resignation by investing with determination in learning the necessary skills. Expressing deep appreciation for the pedagogical value of the training path they are engaged in, Ansalone highlighted the strategic relevance of the Augurusa Foundation’s project: ” Experiences like Green SIM are enormously useful for two sets of reasons. The first is that they aggregate: they aggregate sensibilities, experiences, and consciences. The second is that they stimulate that form of in-depth debate on content that we have unfortunately forgotten. Here, people delve deeper, study for days, for weeks, analyze problems in their essence, and implement solutions ”

At the end of the meeting, the Augurusa Foundation thanked the Municipality of Filogaso for hosting the event and the Carabinieri of the Maierato Station for their presence. Copies of the volume were distributed to the young students of the course and presented, with a dedication from the author, to the journalist Maurizio Bonanno, to the representatives of the Carabinieri, to the Mayor of Filogaso Massimo Trimmeliti, and to the President of the Augurusa Foundation Francesco Augurusa.

In a world marked by increasing polarization and radical transformations, the ability to understand and analyze global dynamics becomes fundamental for training the leaders of tomorrow.
