Among the protagonists is the Antonio Emanuele Augurusa Foundation, which arrived in Belém with the Italian delegation to present its Green Social Impact Manager model.

With the panel “Voices for Regeneration: Youth, Knowledge, and Skills for Climate Action” held at the Italy Pavilion “Made for Our Future,” Maria Makarova – Head of Project Design for Fondazione Augurusa spoke alongside Maurizio Cattaneo – Research Professor at UMass Lowell and Advisor for Fondazione Augurusa, Maureen Gallagher – Ambassador of the European Federation of Geologists, David Govoni – President of the European Federation of Geologists, Massimo De Giuseppe – Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Fashion and Tourism, IULM University, and Ricardo Grassi – General Director IPS Academy / CitiPlat. At the heart of the panel were three complementary approaches to climate transition: scientific innovations from the geosciences of the FicFighters project; participatory communication and community regeneration models developed by Climate Factories; and the accessible and inclusive training model for green skills “Green SIM” designed by Fondazione Augurusa under the high patronage of the European Parliament.

During her presentation, Maria Makarova explained how the Green SIM program was launched in 2025 with the aim of training new professionals capable of designing social and environmental impact initiatives within companies, third sector organizations, and public institutions. The course, entirely free of charge, benefited from a highly qualified faculty composed of academics, leaders, and industry professionals from national and international universities and institutions such as the World Bank, the United Nations, the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security, the World Academy of Art and Science, the Global Finance Climate Center, the International Renewable Energy Agency – IRENA, and the SNAM Foundation.

During the panel, it was highlighted how the Green SIM model is based on the principle of “Generative Restitution,” a paradigm developed by Fondazione Augurusa that recognizes communities and territories as protagonists – simultaneously benefactors and beneficiaries – of every intervention, promoting the construction of networks of dialogue and collaboration among diverse social actors, civil, academic, and ecclesiastical institutions. The paradigm of Generative Restitution, which has always guided the work of Fondazione Augurusa, contributes to promoting a transition toward a sustainable and inclusive future. This approach fully aligns with the principle of just transition, a central theme of many discussions at this COP30, which requires integrating environmental action with social equity: “we must commit to ensuring that the necessary change leaves no one behind,” reiterates the Foundation’s President Francesco Augurusa, “the creation of more equitable and inclusive communities must be an integral part of our efforts for a sustainable future.”

By presenting the Green SIM course as a model for a just transition at COP30, Fondazione Augurusa sought to bring to the center of the environmental sustainability debate not only the need to train new generations in green skills, but also to do so by ensuring equitable and inclusive opportunities, so that more and more people are able to address the social and ecological challenges that the future holds: “we aim to create lasting systemic change through models that activate virtuous circles of positive impact,” explained Maria Makarova, “for this reason, in addition to developing our models, we want to ensure that new generations are able to face this challenge and carry forward its effects.”

With its participation at COP30, the Antonio Emanuele Augurusa Foundation confirms its commitment to environmental sustainability, emphasizing that ecological transition can only be achieved if accompanied by social measures capable of reducing inequalities, offering inclusive opportunities, and building a more equitable society.

The Antonio Emanuele Augurusa Foundation arrives in Brazil to discuss ecological transition and social justice.
