Following their joint participation last year in the 30th biennial IPRA – International Peace Research Association conference in New Zealand, the two institutions will meet again at the international conference of the European Peace Research Association (EuPRA), scheduled to take place in Sarajevo from 4 to 6 November 2026, thanks to the agreement recently signed to promote research, training and dissemination activities on the themes of peace, nonviolence and interreligious dialogue.

As part of the conference, the Augurusa Foundation and CISP will present a scientific panel entitled “Religions in Practice: Reconciliation and Nonviolence as Tools for a Peaceful Coexistence”, selected by the organising committee and sponsored by the Augurusa Foundation, with Professor Pierluigi Consorti as coordinator.

The 4 November panel will feature scholars of law and religion Marta Lombardi, Giuseppina Scala, Luigi Mariano Guzzo and Fabio Franceschi. Their contributions will analyse the interactions between legal systems, religious freedom and mediation practices. The conclusions will be entrusted to Arianna Innocenzi, Head of Communications of the Augurusa Foundation, who will bring scientific reflection into dialogue with experiences gained in the local area. At the heart of her contribution will be the vision of a Hose of Peace and its applications in the Foundation’s projects: a space for welcoming, dialogue and collaboration, born from the dream and a pencil drawing by Antonio Emanuele Augurusa, a young messenger of peace to whom the Foundation is dedicated.

In an international context marked by conflicts, tensions and growing social fragmentation, the panel will propose a timely and necessary reflection: how can religions concretely contribute to processes of reconciliation and the reconstruction of the social fabric? Beyond political and legal instruments, religious traditions can offer values, practices and meeting places capable of fostering dialogue, rebuilding mutual trust and promoting forms of peaceful coexistence.

The discussion is part of the broader international debate on the need to identify new strategies to combine pluralism, inclusion and collective responsibility. The conference will also represent an important opportunity for exchange between scholars from different disciplines and geographical contexts, encouraging the circulation of ideas and innovative perspectives on the challenges facing contemporary societies.

It is no coincidence that this reflection finds its place precisely in Sarajevo. Choosing the Bosnian capital means placing the debate in a city of strong symbolic significance. A historic crossroads of peoples, cultures and religions, Sarajevo continues to represent, in European memory, both the tragedy of wars and ethnic-religious divisions, and the capacity for resilience and reconstruction necessary to build paths towards coexistence and reconciliation.

The joint participation of the Augurusa Foundation and CISP in this important international event demonstrates their commitment to actively contributing to the scientific and cultural debate on the major issues of our time. A commitment that translates into the promotion of a culture of peace founded on dialogue, nonviolence and mutual recognition of differences.

Religions as a Resource for Peace The collaboration between the Augurusa Foundation and CISP (Interdisciplinary Centre for Peace Sciences) of the University of Pisa continues with a new opportunity for international meeting and discussion.
