The “Energie con il Sud” project kicks off in Vibo
A three-year training and job placement program in the renewable energy sector is arriving for young people in Calabria.
“Energie con il Sud” begins, the three-year program that aims to create concrete opportunities for young people in Southern Italy within the renewable energy sector. The initiative, supported by Fondazione Snam ETS and Fondazione CON IL SUD, will see us committed to combating youth unemployment and promoting social inclusion, involving young people and territories across the South.
The project aims to support 300 young NEETs (Not in Education, Employment or Training), aged between 18 and 29 and residing in Southern Italy, through differentiated training and job placement pathways, with the goal of making the younger generations protagonists of the Just Transition within the broader context of the European Green Deal.
The project coordinated by Energie con il Sud will be implemented with the involvement of the non-profit organizations Fondazione Augurusa, Cooperativa Sociale “Seme di Pace”, Consorzio Mestieri Puglia S.C.S., and Mestieri Campania – Società Cooperativa Sociale, and is based on an innovative and replicable interregional model that integrates technical training, orientation, mentoring, and placement, with the active contribution of local communities and businesses. Twelve training programs will be implemented over the three-year period, one for each territory every year until September 2028, also thanks to the collaboration of Fondazione Human Age Institute, Gruppo Altea S.r.l., and SENEC Italia S.r.l., technical and network partners contributing specialist skills in the training, digital, and energy fields.
Four regions are protagonists: Calabria, Puglia, Campania, and Sicily, specifically the cities of Vibo Valentia, where we will be operational, Brindisi, Portici, and Catania. Intensive pathways will be activated in each territory to offer participants comprehensive training in green skills; from the foundations of electrical engineering to the installation of photovoltaic systems and the ability to read system diagrams.
According to the Unioncamere-Excelsior 2025 forecasts, the renewable energy sector will be among the most dynamic in the coming years, with a strong demand for technicians, experts, and energy engineers, as well as profiles capable of integrating digital skills for smart grid management. Hundreds of thousands of jobs are estimated in the energy sector at a national level, with over 759,000 highly specialized profiles and 910,000 with advanced digital skills.
As Fondazione Augurusa, we felt it was important to join such a significant initiative, providing the wealth of skills and experience gained over time in the field of “green” training and job placement. Although we operate on a national scale today, we feel a strong responsibility to continue investing in the social future of Southern Italy, in line with the principle of Generative Restitution.
Furthermore, building on our experiential background with the Social Impact Manager and Virtus Lab courses, we are in the best position to offer our support and know-how, not only to the young students taking part in this initiative but also to all those organizations that, like us, have decided to join the “Energie con il Sud” project.
