Energie con il Sud: training and employment for 300 young people in Southern Italy

The three-year project, supported by Fondazione Snam and Fondazione CON IL SUD along with Isola Catania, Brindisi & C., Seme di Pace, and Fondazione Augurusa, aims to combat youth unemployment in Southern Italy.

“Energie con il Sud” kicks off, the three-year program that aims to create concrete opportunities for young people in Southern Italy within the energy sectors. The initiative, supported by Fondazione Snam ETS and Fondazione CON IL SUD, aims to combat youth unemployment and promote social inclusion, involving young people and local areas in the South.

The project, also coordinated thanks to the support of Isola Catania Impresa Sociale S.r.l. and Brindisi & C. ETS, has the objective of accompanying 300 young NEETs (Not in Education, Employment or Training), between 18 and 29 years old, residing in contexts of economic and social fragility, through a free training and job placement path.

Energie con il Sud, implemented with the involvement of the local organizations Cooperativa Sociale “Seme di Pace”, Fondazione Augurusa, Consorzio Mestieri Puglia S.C.S., and Mestieri Campania – Società Cooperativa Sociale, is based on an innovative and replicable interregional model that integrates technical training, orientation, mentoring, and placement, with the active contribution of local communities and businesses.

Over the three-year period, 12 training programs will be implemented, one for each territory every year until September 2028, also thanks to the collaboration of Fondazione Human Age Institute, Gruppo Altea S.r.l., and SENEC Italia S.r.l., technical and network partners who contribute specialist skills in the training, digital, and energy fields.

Four protagonist regions: Sicily, Apulia, Campania, and Calabria, specifically the cities of Catania, Brindisi, Portici, and Vibo Valentia. In each territory, intensive courses of 300 hours over two months will be activated in hybrid mode (online and in person), featuring practical workshops, company visits, and orientation meetings. The activities are designed together with local partners to meet market needs and facilitate access to professions related to the energy sector, a protagonist of major technical and innovative evolutions.

According to the Unioncamere-Excelsior 2025 forecasts, the energy sector will be among the most dynamic in the coming years, with a strong demand for technicians, experts, and energy engineers, as well as profiles capable of integrating digital skills for smart grid management. Hundreds of thousands of jobs are estimated in the energy field, with over 759,000 highly specialized profiles and 910,000 with advanced digital skills.

How to participate
It is possible to participate by applying through the dedicated landing page “Percorsi – Energie con il Sud”, which will allow interested young people to join the training paths and receive updates on local activities. At the end of the training, the placement phase will begin, during which the participants will come into contact with the companies involved, also thanks to the support of local partners.
