Joy and Solidarity: Success of the Event Organized by the Antonio Emanuele Augurusa Foundation in Filogaso for World Children’s Day.
The Community Comes Together to Celebrate the Vatican-initiated Day with Activities and Inspiring Messages
Filogaso, May 27, 2024 – The satellite event organized by the Augurusa Foundation for World Children’s Day, established by Pope Francis and coordinated by Father Enzo Fortunato, was a great success. The Augurusa Foundation organized the day in pursuit of its mission, inspired by the legacy and multiple sensitivities of Antonio Emanuele, who distinguished himself as an example of contagious and disarming love, particularly directed towards those in conditions of fragility, vulnerability, and disadvantage.
Children represent the future of our society, and it is essential to invest in their well-being and growth. This event aimed to emphasize the importance of creating stimulating environments where children can grow and develop their potential.
The day saw the participation of many children of all ages, who filled the environment with enthusiasm and joy. The activities were varied and engaging: children danced, painted, and participated in team motor games, creating an atmosphere of carefreeness and collaboration. The art workshop not only allowed children to express themselves through colors and art but also and above all to bring out a representative image of their vision of the world, present and future.
All this was accompanied by a great snack for everyone, enriched by the sweets brought by the participants. The event took place at the Filogaso rectory, whose welcoming structure allowed the use of both indoor and outdoor spaces, ensuring the perfect execution of all planned activities. The children’s positive energy infected everyone, transforming a rainy day into an unforgettable occasion of joy and sharing.
The President of the Antonio Emanuele Augurusa Foundation, Francesco Augurusa, emphasized the importance of creating gathering spaces for children and the Foundation’s commitment to promoting initiatives for them: “Today, as we gather to celebrate children’s day in Filogaso, I want to express how precious our young citizens are. You children are the future of our community and, as such, deserve to grow in an environment that values and supports you in every aspect of life”.
President Augurusa further adds that it is our responsibility as a society to protect, educate, and support young people, providing them with the tools and resources needed to face future challenges with determination and creativity. Children’s growth and development are closely linked to the progress and prosperity of our world. Only through collective and conscious commitment to new generations can we hope to build a bright and sustainable future for all.
Father Enzo Fortunato, spokesperson for the Papal Basilica of Saint Peter in the Vatican and national coordinator of the event, shared an inspiring message, emphasizing the importance of solidarity and community, fundamental values for our youth’s growth. Father Fortunato thanked the Augurusa Foundation for its constant commitment to young people, citing various Foundation initiatives, such as the creation of the Filogaso playground and the future Sports Center in the town. For the Augurusa Foundation, investing in young people means building a more equitable and inclusive society, where every individual has the opportunity to develop their potential and contribute to the common good. There were warm thanks to all local collaborators and volunteers who made the event’s organization possible.
The Parish Priest of Filogaso, Don Giancarlo Lo Riggio, interacted directly with the children, reminding them of their importance as future generations. He also conveyed greetings from His Excellency Attilio Nostro, Bishop of the Diocese of Mileto-Nicotera-Tropea, and thanked the Foundation and all volunteers from other participating associations, highlighting the centrality of events like the one organized by the Antonio Emanuele Augurusa Foundation and its local partners.
To make the day even more special, each child received a gift from the Augurusa Foundation, as well as a certificate of participation in the event.
The day concluded with a warm thank you to all attendees and the Augurusa Foundation’s commitment to continue promoting initiatives for young people, so they can grow in a serene environment rich with opportunities.
The Antonio Emanuele Augurusa Foundation heartily thanks all volunteers and collaborators who supported and made the day even more special: Terra Amica Association, I sogni di Matilde, Udire, Dance for Life, The Soccer School and Pro Loco of Filogaso, as well as the parish of Sant’Agata, the Municipality of Filogaso, Maierato, San Nicola da Crissa, and the diocese of Mileto-Nicotera-Tropea.
