Olympic Flame in Vibo: President of the Augurusa Foundation among the torchbearers
It was a historic morning in Vibo Valentia with the passing of the Olympic flame, which has begun its journey toward the Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympic Games scheduled for next February.
Many people participated, lining the sides of the route and applauding the passage of the torch as it touched various areas of the provincial capital. The flame’s journey started from Viale Affaccio and concluded its march in Via Bucciarelli, shortly after the Jazzolino hospital.
The route also included stops in Via Dante Alighieri, Piazza Martiri d’Ungheria, Corso Vittorio Emanuele III, Corso Umberto I (towards San Leoluca), Via XV Aprile, and Via Filanda.
A different torchbearer honored the march at each stage. This historic event unites the values of sport with those of solidarity.
Among the torchbearers for the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Flame was Francesco Augurusa, president of the “Antonio Emanuele Augurusa Foundation,” who carried the torch along the section from Corso Umberto I to Piazza San Leoluca during one of the most evocative moments of the Flame’s passage through our territory.
“I dedicate this moment,” said Francesco Augurusa, “to all the Foundation’s collaborators, special people who put their heart and soul into helping others every day. I run for the young people who have rediscovered dignity and hope with us; I do this with commitment in the name of my brother Antonio. To build the House of Peace, a place where everyone can find dignity, a welcome, and safety, and where no one is left behind—those who believe in these values run with us.”
