Msgr. Savino in Filogaso: “Antonio Augurusa, a genius in heart, spirit, and mind”
The Prefect of Vibo Valentia Colosimo, the Vice President of the CEI Msgr. Savino, and the Bishop of Mileto Msgr. Nostro in dialogue with the young people of the Augurusa Foundation
Filogaso, October 14, 2025 – A day of great significance for the Antonio Emanuele Augurusa Foundation, which hosted Her Excellency the Prefect of Vibo Valentia Anna Aurora Colosimo and His Excellency the Most Reverend Monsignor Francesco Savino, Bishop of Cassano all’Jonio and Vice President of the Italian Episcopal Conference for Southern Italy as Guest Speakers in the free Advanced Training program in Green Social Impact Manager at the council chamber of the Municipality of Filogaso (VV). These interventions affirm the closeness and support of civil and ecclesiastical Institutions to the Augurusa Foundation and its commitment to combining local engagement with global vision.
In dialogue with the students, the Mayor of Filogaso, and Msgr. Savino, Prefect Colosimo emphasized the importance of initiatives like Green SIM, describing it as an exceptional combination of the territory’s resources and excellence with the enrichment that comes from contributions from outside the province. “I was favorably impressed by this initiative that manages to bring a program of the highest level and depth to a challenging territory such as the province of Vibo. The reality I found here today, the participation of these young people coming from all over Italy, is an added value. Truly congratulations because this is a reality to be exported and imitated” commented Dr. Colosimo. “It is a virtuous project and I truly hope it can be replicated. May good practices become the norm—this is the wish I make for Calabria and the Province of Vibo.”
Consolidating the direction chosen by the Augurusa Foundation were also the words of Msgr. Savino, who, emphasizing the values of solidarity, dignity, and ethics, did not hesitate to praise the human and compassionate perspective that young Antonio Augurusa outlined during his life and that today guides the Foundation’s mission: “I fully share the vision of this child Antonio, brilliant in heart, spirit, and mind. We can realize what he dreamed of by dreaming together, because if we all dream together, these dreams come true. Today, together, we must dream and we must activate those processes of Peace so they become reality.”
Also a guest of the Foundation last Friday, October 10, was His Excellency the Most Reverend Msgr. Attilio Nostro, Bishop of Mileto–Nicotera–Tropea and Secretary of the Calabrian Episcopal Conference, who at the Church of Sant’Agata in Filogaso shed light on the value of generativity and the importance of infusing this value into social life. “Every time I come into contact with small centers like Filogaso, I remember that the history of the world was changed through a family from a small remote village, Nazareth. I think that ‘as leaven’ is something small in a large mass that gradually grows, and I believe this is also the vocation not only of Filogaso but also of the Augurusa Foundation: to be leaven for these young people” emphasized Msgr. Nostro, looking at the Foundation’s work. “To ferment the dough they have in their hearts, which will surely become something great and beautiful.”
The Green SIM project, along with the work and vision of the Augurusa Foundation, thus confirms itself as unique in the national landscape, succeeding in attracting figures of the highest profile to the heart of Calabria to bring advanced training free of charge to young people from all over Italy and abroad, ready to learn concrete skills and tools to become agents of change. As Francesco Augurusa, President of the Augurusa Foundation, reminds us: “Education is not a task that can be delegated, but a collective responsibility. Green SIM is proof that even in complex territories, excellence can be generated if one has a clear vision and the necessary faith to realize it every day.”
